Cleaning & Repair
Chimney Sweeping:
If creosote buildup is over 1/8 inch thick a chimney cleaning is needed according to the National Fire Protection Association.
Chimney Repairs:
it is very important that chimneys are inspected each year before the burning season to ensure proper function. If your chimney is in need of repair give us a call and one of our technicians would be glad to look at the problem and determine the best way to fix it.
Leaks & Smoke Problems
Chimney Leaks and Waterproofing:
We get a number of calls from home owners who tell us that water is coming into their house around their chimney or down the flue. Waterproofing seals the exterior of the chimney and prevents water damage in the home.
Smoke Problems:
Does smoke tend to billow into your house or basement when you are trying to enjoy a fire? Many factors can contribute to this problem. Examples are Improper draft, positive and negative air pressure, HVAC systems and basements. Smoke problems can be complex and proper diagnoses will pinpoint the issues.
Chimney Caps and Rain-pans
Chimney Caps and Rain-pans:
Chimney caps and rainpans are installed for 3 reasons:
- Prevents water damage to the chimney and house
- Keeps animals out
- Caps act as a spark arrestor and prevent sparks from hitting the roof
Liners and HeatShield Flue Repair
Stainless Steel Liners:
Installing a new stainless steel liner is a very effective option for heavily damaged flue tiles or if there are no flue tiles existing. Doing so brings a flue up to current safety and code standards.
HeatShield
For minor cracks, spalling and mortar gaps within a flue (typically seen with an aged flue), a HeatShield application may be the best route. This option is often performed when a flue is too small to install a new liner (to avoid drafting issues). And of course, our technicians are HeatShield Certified.
Dryer Vent Cleaning
Dryer Vents:
According to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, there are an estimated 15,500 fires per year associated with dryer vents. Proper maintenance goes a long way toward proper drying time and function.
